Bonjour!

Post on December 11, 2009 by livy162 and tagged Eiffel Tower, France, Hotel De Ville, Paris, Parisii's, visit

a_Paris_City_of_Lights[1]I have always dreamt about going to Paris, France. I have to do a project every quarter for Mr. Miller’s history class. This quarter I decided to do it on Paris, France. I will talk about the important facts about Paris and places you can visit. I will also talk about Paris’ economy.

Paris is very interesting in its own way. Paris is the capital of France. It was founded in 4200 BC by a Gaulish tribe, the Parisii’s. Paris is located on Seine River in the northern part of France. Paris is named after the Latin name of the Parisii tribe. Paris’ population is 2, 181, 371.

There are many fun places to visit in Paris. One place to visit is the Eiffel tower. The Eiffel tower is 1,063 feet tall. It is now known to be a popular symbol of both Paris and France. It is about the same height as an 81 story building. There are three levels for visitors. People can buy tickets for either walking up the stairs or lifts to the second and third level. The first and second levels of the Eiffel tower are restaurants.

It was burned to the ground during the commune of 1871. From in there you can see Pedestrian Square. During the winter there is an ice rink hotel_de_ville_paris[1]in front of Hotel De Ville. It was once a sight for public executions. One more place to visit is the Le Maurice restaurant in Paris. This restaurant is also part of a hotel and spa. It is very expensive to stay here. A family package can cost up to 1,350 dollars. If you see the pictures it’s actually worth the money. Take a look!

Paris is one of the engines in the global economy. If it were a country in 2007 it would be the 17th largest economy in the world. The French presidents are housed in the Elysee Palace. Paris’ current mayor is M. Delanoe. The jobs in Paris are basically the same as here in the United States. There are many jobs as waitress’ in fancy restaurants. Paris has a very big government.

This essay is a big part of my History grade for Mr. Miller’s classroom. Paris is very interesting and has many interesting facts. There are many places to visit in Paris, and it has a very big economy. Hopefully one day I will fulfill my dream to go to Paris!
